What is Reiki ?
The International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) describes the practice of Reiki as a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes physical healing. Pronounced (Ray - Kee) with Rei meaning the wisdom of God, or a higher universal cosmic energy, and Ki meaning the unseen energy that gives or causes life. This mind-body therapy has proven extremely effective in helping individuals increase awareness, insight, wisdom, and personal growth. When a practitioner is performing a healing session, the energy that emanates from their hands produces a significantly larger biomagnetic reading (7-10Hz – Theta and Alpha range) These frequencies are also associated with physical healing. Contentment, relaxation, decreased feelings of stress, fear, and anxiety as well as a reduction, and in some cases, elimination of physical illnesses and persistent conditions are common observations from clients after a Reiki session.
How I use Reiki
As a level 3 Reiki Master practitioner I focus on using Reiki as a Complementary and Alternative Therapy. My one on one Reiki sessions are done in person or via distance Reiki. During a typical session, she as the practitioner places their hands on or just above a client's body. As universal energy is conducted to the client’s body he/she is instructed to set intentions, and relax. Visualizations and specialized rhythmic breathing may also be added to treat pain or help with trauma recovery.
During group therapy, I combine Reiki with targeted self-actualization exercises. Client’s are led through intentions, energy training, and taught how to do self Reiki.
